22-year-old male of Pembroke was arrested

On June 06, 2017 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a Criminal Code (CC) search warrant at a residence in the City of Pembroke. A baseball bat, drugs, and property believed to belong to the robbery victim were seized as part of the investigation.

As a result, 22-year-old Matthew Bilson of Pembroke was arrested and is facing the following CC and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) charges:

  • Robbery with a Weapon
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Probation – 4 counts
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methylenedioxyamphetamine (Ecstasy)

He was held for a bail hearing on June 07, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

The investigation is continuing and police are still seeking a second male suspect in relation to this robbery. The second suspect is described as a white male with his hair being cut short right to the scalp.
