VEHICLE FIRES IN PEMBROKE UNDER INVESTIGATION
Deemed suspicious
(PEMBROKE, ON) – On July 19, 2020 at approximately 3:45 a.m. members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle fire in the 700 block of Pembroke Street West in the City of Pembroke. The unoccupied vehicle was fully engulfed and the fire was extinguished by the Pembroke Fire Department. The parked vehicle sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire.
Police are also investigating a second vehicle fire that occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. that same morning. The interior of a parked vehicle in the 1000 block of Lea Street was damaged by fire. The fire was contained to an area inside the vehicle and did not spread.
OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS) is assisting with the investigations and police are treating the fires as suspicious at this time.
