POLICE CRUISER STRUCK BY VEHICLE DURING INVESTIGATION
The driver fled the scene (PEMBROKE, ON) – On September 17, 2020, at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call about a possible impaired driver parked in the 100 block of Pembroke Street East.
Police attended the area, located the vehicle in a parking lot, and identified the driver. The driver fled the scene, striking a police cruiser and civilian vehicle in the parking lot. The civilian driver and police officer were not injured. The vehicles sustained minor damage.
The fleeing vehicle, a red two-door Honda Civic bearing Ontario marker CEBT 685, was last observed traveling eastbound on Pembroke Street East at a high rate of speed. The vehicle sustained rear end damage as a result of one of the collisions. Due to public safety concerns, the police did not pursue the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, and the search for the driver and vehicle continues.
