DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES DAMAGED OVERNIGHT – ARREST MADE
(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after the downtown Pembroke business was damaged in the overnight hours of December 6-7, 2020. A bank ATM and the window of a business in the 100 block of Pembroke Street West were damaged. In the early morning hours of December 7, 2020 police located and arrested a Pembroke man in the downtown area in connection with the acts of mischief. The subject resisted arrest and, while in police custody, an article of clothing was set on fire in the holding cell.
33-year-old Richard Rheal Donald FARR of Pembroke has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
• Mischief under $5000 –two counts
• Causing a disturbance
• Resist peace officer
• Fail to comply with a probation order
• Arson – damage to property
• Possession of incendiary material
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 16, 2020.
The UOV OPP continue to investigate similar acts of property damage in the Elizabeth Street, William Street, and Esther Street areas in Pembroke.
