THEFT OF LIQUOR RESULTS IN SEVERAL CHARGES

(PETAWAWA, ON) – On the afternoon of June 5, 2021, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of theft of liquor from a retail store in the Town of Petawawa. Police identified an individual in connection with this theft and with a prior theft of liquor from the same store. The person was located by police on the afternoon of June 5, 2021, and arrested.

As a result of this investigation Ian William HOPPER, age 45 of Laurentian Valley Township, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:

• Theft under $5000 – two counts
• Fail to comply with probation order – four counts

• Driving while under suspension

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 29, 2021.
